I don’t expect many people to get or relate to this comic, but it’s a strange ‘taboo’ I’ve seen happen with some people on reddit (including myself) when sharing their own work and I thought it was so bizarre that it needed to be made into a comic.

LoadingArtist will one day dominate and be with Cyanide and Happiness, and Extra Fabulous Comics

  2. Tiny says:

You could post your comics on FunnyJunk, OC always does well and we all love you there. :3

    1. Gtard says:

Except funny junk is fucking ass. There’s a reason they got sued by the oatmeal

  3. bernd says:

Well if it makes you feel better, I am here.

  4. Klego says:

Huh, I reddit and I appreciate having a link to the original source. Including a URL in a corner of the picture is also perfectly fine.

  5. Trevor says:

Yes… I always apologize to those people for my audacity of providing them with free content week in and week out that accounts for dozens of hours work.

  6. ManOpeace says:

Screw other people and their opinions. You’re the one that has to die when your life ends, not them!

  7. Alex says:

It’s fun to see this comic of yours now:

  12. Marco Cheese Whizard says:

I spotted an Extra Fabulous comic in the crowd! http://extrafabulouscomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/defenseless.png

  13. DoktorAndy says:

I’ve encountered this exact same thing when sharing columns I’ve written. I even had one guy make a list of my posts shaming me for sharing my work on a site that’s meant for sharing. It’s total bullshit.

  14. I can totally relate to this.

You create original content and want to share it with the world. What better venue than Reddit, right? So you cast your pearls before them and… the torches and pitchforks come out if you DARE post a link back to your site. It’s as if Reddit is the Borg collective and insists your contribution be assimilated into their approved hosting sites (imgur.com, anyone?) and no other.

Seems pretty socialist for a site whose members so often claim to support democracy.

    1. Neospector says:

The hivemind requests you use Imgur because Imgur loads faster than, say, Tinypic.

Although I have tried to herd people towards this site, especially after the “I’m Super Depressed” comic got reposted.

      *Waves to Gregor*

You’re not alone, though. I can think of a few people who have complained about this happening to their OC.

    2. Azelas says:

…. What the hell does that have to do with Socialism?

  15. Jorge Gtz says:

Just a quick question, are those other comics C&H and Incidental Comics?
    Because they rule too!!
And so cool you’re back to a weekly update n_n.
    Greetings!

  16. Chris says:

Seen this happen a lot, I’ve noticed some other comic posters tend to post an imgur link and someone else will do the work for you and link to their (your) site.

  17. Tashok says:

You just wait till someone asks for sauce, easy.

  18. Sooooo true. Reddit is awful for trying to advertise anything. Even if it’s exactly the kind of thing they’d love, they just hate you for it. It’s that kind of attitude to leads to the endless reposting everyone loves to complain about.

  19. Christina says:

Had something somewhat similar happen to me earlier this year. Found my image/story on websites other than that I had posted it on, tried to explain that it was mine, but people just downvoted me and didn’t believe me. No fun. :/

  20. Dragon says:

I know not from Reddit, and I am ok with that. 🙂

However, I do like the way you envisioned the internet, as a mob of people with little up and down arrows. Very well done!

  21. Cameron says:

You have to act like it isn’t your site, you just go “source in case anyone was wondering____”. Otherwise it’s self promotion which looks way worse than a 3rd party promotion.

    1. Noah says:

And what’s so bad about promoting your own content?

      1. Krzys says:

Because people on the internet hate self-promoters, with a passion.

      2. Cameron says:

Same reason no one cares when an athlete says “this year is the best I’ve ever felt”, or if an actor says “This movie I’m in really will be fantastic”; no one’s self-promotion is objective.

So when Gregor is presented the opportunity to make it look like an outside person is promoting a comic they enjoy he fuel that instead of turning it into self-promotion which deflates the excitement.

  22. TS says:

I haven’t been on Reddit much but I’ve definitely heard about this kind of thing happening on there.

  23. nq says:

Now that’s an all-time n°1 comic. Thank you.

  24. ROBOTunderscore says:

If they truly want more, they will find your website.

    That’s my motto for media.

  25. A.J. says:

Man, maybe this is why I’ve just never gotten into Reddit–I just don’t think like that. When I see a comic that I like, I expect to see a referral link so I can go check out the rest.

By the way, I love the facial expressions that you come up with 😀

  26. Furie says:

Remember, what happens on Reddit (and anything that is reposted there officially originated there in this mindset) stays on Reddit.

Should you be one of those evil overlord types who believes in a web outside Reddit then you’re blatantly spamming. Why don’t you make your own stuff and somehow code it so it can’t be reposted if you want people to leave Reddit for it? Geez, some people be expecting the world to respect their ownership of their created content…

  27. Adam says:

I can relate dude, but sometimes a little call to action has to be done haha! Have you ever thought about making video animations?

  28. Omega Lairon says:

Hmm… a little specific, but I think it still works if you extend the logic to the world in general. I mean, you see it a lot at conventions and independent marketplaces – wanting to get exposure and recognition for your hard work is only natural… as is the backlash.

I like it. Now visit my website : p

    …I don’t have a website : (
